Image & content rights
Who owns the photos from a Girlthrough shoot, and who can use them. Most disagreements start here — agree before you shoot.

The default
Unless the people on a shoot agree otherwise:
- The photographer owns the copyright in the photos they take.
- Everyone who took part may use the final images in their own portfolio and social media, with credit to everyone involved.
- No one may use the images commercially — ads, paid campaigns, selling prints, brand deals — without the written agreement of everyone who appears in them and the photographer.
Before the shoot, agree
- who edits and when the photos will be shared,
- how people will be credited (Instagram handles),
- anything someone doesn't want published,
- any commercial use, and whether anyone is paid.
Changing your mind
If you appear in a photo and ask for it to be taken down from someone's portfolio, please respect that where you reasonably can.
Shops
Creators own the photos they take at your shop. Ask and credit them before using the photos in your own marketing.
On Girlthrough
Covers and photos you upload stay yours. We only display them on Girlthrough (see Terms of service).
